Me @ Site *Edited*

This is one of the very unique ceremonies I witnessed.
In-situ Foundation Opening Ceremony

The tent was prepared specially for this less-than-30 minute ceremony.
All the site works had to be ceased about 1 hour before the ceremony.

Even the dog came to join the crowd..
The HSE committees are gonna be in trouble if there is any spot check at the site..
This dog has never received CIDB course,
it has no green card
it is here without a safety helmet.. and safety boots, too.

*The contractor told me they've booked it's PPE, but because the PPE has to be custom made that's why it takes some time -_-" *

Actually the ceremony was just like one of the very common ceremony, starting with arriving of VIPs, opening speech, speech by project director, speech by VIP, doa recitation and so on.

What makes it unique is its opening gimmick!!

Look, this is an ordinary bored hole..
which doesn't look nice.

...and this is the bored hole after decoration.
The only word I would use to describe it is cute!!
It is cute, isn't it? :P

and also this!!

The VIPs gonna pour the concrete into the bored hole
which looks something like this.
It was actually 43m deep from the ground level, the water level was quite high because the groundwater sipped into the hole from sideway after it was left open without concreting for one day.

So this is what they did for opening gimmick..

Then same action, by few different persons..

When everyone was happily looking at the opening gimmick,
what worries us is how long the soil of the bored hole could stand before it collapses and affect the pile capacity.

All the VIPs who presented at the ceremony, KL Mayor and the Brunei Minister of Finance were there also, just that I didn't know which one and which one.

*Edited: It was called Foundation Laying Ceremony (The name Foundation Opening Ceremony was simply created by me -_-" paiseh)
And among the VIPs presented were the Brunei Minister of Communication (not Minister of Finance), Chairman of the Board of Directors of Brunei Investment Agency and the Managing Director of Brunei Investment Agency.

Its a Brunei project, a 42 storey hotel.

yaya.. i just google the sultan's picture, it wasn't him.. kena cheated by the contractor edy.

that pile is a 2000mm diameter pile. with 43m deep after 2 basements, i heard we will need around 20 concrete trucks for that pile alone. The casing is only around 7m long and it will be pulled out after concreting.

So if I accidentally fall into the bored hole......
*touch wood touch wood*

Gabriel, the site is interesting if you go there for the first few times, there are a lot of interesting things to see.

But if go everyday, its fun also.. you can experience the feeling of being 'cooked' under the hot sun.

That's an overdesigned project! Sour is the drilling superintendent! Very big deal! Work can only start when she's present.

The borehole...erm...is like nothing if it's to be compared to what Halliburton-Sperry drills.

Sperry drills horizontal wells, extended reach wells, multilateral wells...busuk busuk pun more than 1km from seabed. Plus it's at HPHT condition.

The above simply craps lar...chill...

But one thing, somebody got to know the Brunei Minister wor...I guess you cn quit your studies and intern straight away...hahahaha

I dunno which one is the minister la.. even if I know also you think he would bother to know who am I.

20 concrete trucks ... that would be around ... roughly 100-120mcube ... wah then the mah take like ... roughly 9 hours or more to cast that bloody hole? cool. is it one go? or stop then continue casting the next day?

pangkor ... when halli drills, what shit also no need to worry, drill or blast only ... for tee hooi sake, they need to think of the surrounding. cannot hardcore drill ... drill too kao later klcc also gone.

and in sea, there is no boundary limits for drilling (i guess). onshore, if that land belongs to you, 1000 meter deep into centre of earth also belongs to you. no trespassing underground.

Actually the borehole cannt be left open for too long or the soil will collapse, thats why the concreting must be done in one go, if the borehole finish drilling ar around 5pm, they will ask the concrete truck to come and meanwhile they will put in the steel cage. after that the concrete truck will come one by one and finish around 1am.

For pangkor's case, they drill for the oil, thats y they need to go very deep.
For my case, we are trying to make it as short as possible to save money, as long as its enough to support the building. We go so deep for what? Takkan wanna find the oil then fill in with concrete to block the oil?

Now no more cheap oil alr. That's why we frequently heard about deep sea and ultra-deep sea exploration and operation. And thus, challenges, risks and uncertainties increases by wateva-times-it-is-fold. This kind of projects can sometimes hit few of billions depending no how the state-of-the-art the technologies deployed. Say the technologies are not sufficiently mature, these projects won't even be economically justified. FOr this sake, we will have to buy expansive petrol lo...coz demand exceeds supply mar...Erm...probably can say like we all are at the stake of technologies!

But yes, drill beside KLCC might shake it to ground, please be extra careful! The building was stricken by lighting just now...it should be half paralyzed alr...Handle with high care! Or else, well...tens of thousands people are at stake also...

All in all...drilling is very harmful har...

Yet again, there's case in AUS where a doctor used a household drill to bore the skull of a boy who was having internal brain bleeding and he got saved.
